bermudaotter:Probably done because they have to justify
the extra cost involved for their most expensive cables I think you may have hit the nail on the proverbial there ;-)

bermudaotter:to suggest that
the qed performance cable isn't a match for blu ray is quite frankly
ridiculous.

No one is saying it isn't a match, just not best suited.

professorhat:Let's not get too excited and start baseless accusations against QED of anything underhand people.

Dangerous ground fella, to accuse people of accusations ;-)

I know all opinions are subjective but the sheer scale of debate on the HDMI issue I think shows that there is a problem with how HDMI has been introduced to the market, most of the people on this forum seem to have an in depth knowledge of the AV market yet the debate rages on, can't remember the same being true with scart, component etc where the rule of thumb seemed to be you get what you pay for, can't help thinking we're being taken advantage of by the top end cable manufacturers, with regards to HDMI because as long as spec is correct better construction, insulation etc has no where near the same impact on quality on a digital interconnect as it did on an analogue one?

Just my opinion.ÿ

professorhat:It doesn't say anywhere that the Performance cable isn't a match for a Blu-Ray player. There is a slight twist on the marketing blurbs under the description of both since the Reference cable mentions Blu-Ray, whilst the Performance mentions HD DVD, but both say quite clearly HDMI Version 1.3, Certified 1080p Compatible.
Let's not get too excited and start baseless accusations against QED of anything underhand people!

And just to prove there was no intentional misdirection from QED on this matter, I emailed them to let them know this and you can now see the website has been updated to include Blu-Ray as a use of the cable:

QED Performance HDMI cable

Here's the email I got back from QED:

Hi,

Many thanks for bring this to our attention, I've now updated the Website to BluRay, you are right it had nothing to do with attempting to get people to purchase the more expensive reference. The copy for the performance range of cables was written for the cable before the demise of HD-DVD and no one here had spotted it was our of date.

Again many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Many Thanks

Paul

Hopefully this puts everyone's mind at rest.
