I am about to buy the Pioneer PDP428XD and wondered if anybody can advise where is a good place to buy it from.

I don't want to pay high street shops money, and I have seen it advertised on line for £1300, but can anybody give me comfort that these on line shops do what they say they do, ie no hidden costs, on time delivery, and most importantly, careful delivery.

And finally - I have been waiting about 5 years to buy this screen - I have been waiting for quality to improve and prices to fall. Is it worth waiting a while longer for something better (eg the new Panasonic 800 or even the 9th gen Pioneer)???

Thanks in advance.

PS I'm hoping to have it up and running by this weekend - the clock is ticking.....

You pays your money and takes your choice I'm afraid. I can't speak for all e-tailors, but going with a local dealer is likely to give you less delivery headaches, better service, and the Pioneer 5 year warranty that only authorised Works dealers can offer. There are some good online experiences so I'm sure someone will chip in with recommendations, but even the best online dealers can't help if couriers *** things up, and the fact that you will have to spend at least one whole day at home waiting for it to arrive. It's a gamble really, if all goes well you've saved a bit of money and not had to take on the high st (assuming you can find a deal on a mail order inc the 5 year warranty). If the screen has a problem though, it's another day off to have it sent back again. And another day off to get the new one delivered!!

My advice would be to shop around on the net for the best price, or overall deal, take this into a local or well respected retailer, and negotiate a price match. I generally make all my expensive purchases this way. I have a very good local retailer, and they have always come very close, or improved on the net deal. High street retailers are very aware of the prices on the net, and may not match the cash price, however their overall deal could be better.
