Yeah, more music for me. I've got my annual bonus landing in my pay packet next week but have no need to add to my main or headphone setups. It's simultaneously a relief, a disappointment and a bit weird 😆

My youngest daughter (12) is introducing me to new bands and she's really into music in general as she's learning to play the bass guitar, so I get to buy a bunch of new records that we both get to enjoy and then she'll appear a couple of hours later, having figured out how to play bass lines from the new album. Quite staggering really, I never had that sort of musical aptitude.

My 2 and half year old Samsung Odyssey G7 32" monitor was playing up, overheating and switching itself off and coming back on after 10-15 mins. Disabling the led lighting helped but would turn off intermittently after an hour. Anyway, Samsung customer service is pretty poor but I will try and get it repaired, I think the UK consumer warranty has expired.

My new wide screen LG Ultragear 34" monitor arrived and I was able to assembly it this week end, same curve screen. Better for the eyes because you don’t have to stretch to look at the screen.
Not strictly HiFi, well it's got built-in speakers, it makes a sound but henceforth shall remain muted.
Nice, good for productivity and gaming!

The Gustard is a premium headphone amp but the remote is cheap plastic throwaway, it does the job, but I need quality remote that feels good in my hand.
Yes another AliExpress job, arrived today, less than a week.

Really solid aluminium throughout, everything metal, solid. Love this universal remote control, I might set this up also for the Eversolo DAC, even though the remote is fairly robust.

How much did I pay, I think it was about £30?

I haver micca speaker cable, for the money really good

I could find some inexpensive cable with or without plugs and have a little fun with that

I ended up with qed xt25 + screwloc bananplugs, so much for spending a little pocket money on something for fun i could compare to the micca cable

Just bought a used pair of Focal Clear OG headphones, then saw a new pair on sale from a US retailer. Even with shipping and tax, they'd cost less than the used ones + replacement pads, bought from the same US retailer (as the pads on the one I bought are grottier than the pics showed.)

So now waiting for the seller to get back to me if I can change my order from pads to headphones 🤞.

Yep, great product but plastic flimsy remote needs to go!
I want the matching Gustasd R2R R26 II but as I officially retired yesterday, I may have to wait a while longer.....

Congrats on your retirement! I still have 17+ years to go (by the time I am at retirement age, it will probably have increased by another 5 years)
Congrats on your retirement too. 👍
Thank you both, I appreciate your kind words.
Yesterday I was hoping to slip out the back door but my colleagues were having none of that.
I welled up, yes grown men cry, quite a send off.
My team got me two tickets to Ronnie Scotts, so many gifts, really generous at heart.
❤️

That's nice!

Plans for the rest of your life - apart from spending more and more time listening to music?

Congrats and enjoy, Jason 👍 I've loved the last three and half years of not needing to set an alarm clock. I don't even wear a watch anymore, my time is now my own🙂
