So ive done a little research for cheaper planner headphones came up with 2 brands Hifiman that Revs got and said sounded good .The other is Fiio Jason where you hiding @ ?

will there be much difference @ £200 bracket ?
Personally I'd pounce on the FiiO JT7. Superbly reviewed and just a whisker over £100 is a mad bargain. My FiiO have a superior build quality to my more expensive HIFIMAN cans and I wouldn't be surprised if the JT7s also punch above their weight for build quality too.

I do prefer the look and build of the Fiio that was my main reason for asking also i plan to get a Fiio k13. Thank for your help RT .This will be my first planner set so dont want to overspend to start with.

I think planars are just so different to dynamic drivers, so getting an inexpensive first pair to get a feel for just how different they sound makes a lot of sense. If you hate them, it won't be a financial disaster. If you love them, you can start planning the next steps up the range.

exactly my thoughts thanks again RT . My fingers are twitching just seen them on Amazon .

@Shrek look forward to hearing your thoughts on Planars & the JT7 once you've got to know them 😊

Considering a JBL CD350 classic cd player, I hear that its a Arcam CD5 under the skin but at less than half the price.
It's a nice looking unit 👍

I'm here!

Either FiiO or Hifiman planars are excellent.
It's difficult to say which is best, I haven't heard the FiiO planars.
I suspect the FiiOs will be a little smoother whereas the Edition XS will layout all the detail, whether you like it or not. The Hifiman sound!

The Ft1 Pros from FiiO are possibly the best budget planars you can buy for under £200. Check Amazon link below.
The Edition XS are selling greatly reduced from the original RMP.
Peter Tyson are selling the XS for £189
Mid range FiiO Ft5's are better sounding but pricier, you may find a bargain if you look around.

The Edition XV it's replacement is much improved on the original model, more darker sounding. if you can stretch your budget a little, the cheapest I've seen is Thomann. Check with Peter Tyson, they may have it cheaper.

The Hifiman Ananda Stealths are the next model up, you may find for a reasonable price, the Arya's are much better still but silly money.

Sorry I overlooked the FiiO JT1s, @RTHerringbone is right, the best bang for the buck.

Good luck 🤞
Let me know what you decide in the end. 😊

Update - oh sh*t!
I missed the entire thread, 😂😂
I see you've purchased the JT1s from Amazon. Congrats on your purchase.
Please give us your feedback!

Also looks like you misread it as well, he bought JT7's not 1's, unless that was a typo....
JT1's are not planar magnetic.

FT1 Pro the older and slightly more expensive model and JT7 the newer and better priced planars.
Yes correct, the FiiO Jade JT1 are dynamic.
Mixing up the JT1 and JT7, brain tired after a late evening with friends!
The house red wine was pretty good 😎
Thanks for the correction. 😊👍
