Back in my day, (pushes bike up a cobbled street with a loaf of hovis in the basket)

We used to have graphic equalisers with built in spectrum analysers....

The former were largely useless (unless you were listening to the bassless 'and justice for all' by metallica) but I always loved looking at the bouncing bars of the spectrum analyser purely as a visual compliment to an amazing stereo.

Is there a modern version of this? Like what the playstation 1 did but better?

Hi,
There must be a PC program that uses the microphone input and display the spectrum. - i searched google and some came up - some free, and ithers to be paid for :

A free one :

Others may be able to suggest how they do theirs - if they use room correction software.

Regards,
Shadders.

Hey thanks man-

Yes i know there are some things like on the iPhones iPad iPod etc

They don't seem to be accurate to me though. I want the real sound. Like the old 1980s/90s stuff
