Whatever happened to the budget stereo amplifier market?

Yester year budget amps we know of, NAD, Marantz, Rotel, ARCAM, old Cambridge have moved into upper echoleons of the price bracket. Not unless you consider £500+ to be where budget starts?

It's seems the only true budget amps these days are from WiiM or Chi-Fi brands like Fosi and Ayima.
Cambridge Audio star at about £250 and Marantz at £399. When you adjust for inflation that is in line with or only a fraction above where they were in the past.

I mentioned that earlier in the thread. My first amp a Denon PMA 250 Mk 2 cost me £150 in 1991 adjusted for inflation it's around £350 now. I bet that Marantz would blow my Denon out of the water.
