What would be the best speaker match for the Yamaha A-S500

I have a small room (around 12ft by 15ft) and need to have my speakers very close to the wall. At the moment I'm using some old Wilmslow Audio floorstanders that I got cheap about 4 years ago. I now have a new amp and feel I'm not getting the best out of the Yamaha with these speakers. They appear to me to be slightly too warm and a little woolly. Not like the demo speakers I heard with the Yamaha last year (forgotten what sevenoaks HiFi were using last summer). I want something brighter with a taught bass. I have a budget of around £300. I was wondering about the Monitor Audio BX2.

As we said in our review of the BX2s:

"An added bonus is that the Monitor Audios are relatively unfussy when it comes to positioning. This flexibility means that they're still capable of producing a decent stereo image when squeezed up to a rear wall."

So that would make them ideally suited to your needs.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply. I will arrange an audition for these at the weekend
