Just back from organ recital at St Paul's Cathedral, hard to beat the sound of that mighty organ swirling around you, as you sit under the dome with your trousers flapping as the bass notes go lower than low...

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

Warren Zevon - Eponymous 2nd album

Warren Zevon - Sentimental Hygiene

Roy Loney - Rock and Roll Dance Party

Clear Light - Black Roses

Transmitter Down?! Search me, guv. Bit Bloody Barmy if you ask me, mate. Sounds like a DJ with a breakdown. And where and when might a bod catch your groovy radio programme and can I phone in and pretend to be myself? Or can I request a disc, Mr Jockey? Hello, BBB. Hope you're well and happy. Nice to see you. See if you can find Charlie in a cupboard somewhere.

Blimey, that cupboard was an interesting habitat.

What's been happening out here on the great expansive plains of these vinyl forums?

BBB has transmuted to another moniker, I gather. And I espy Jim too, TSP et al. Hi folks.

I've just seen this, Charlie...how lovely to see you. Well. BBB is now The Transmitter Down and he's a popular dj on a local radio show, playing weird and even weirder music for a group of weird people. Actually, he plays very interesting stuff and tries to sound like a laconic John Peel; he's also become a leading internet political commentator, but at least he's on the right side...well, not the side of 'The Right', but the other one. I just poddle on, playing records in between the constant struggle to get a life.We speak about you regularly and some of it is quite nice. I hope you're well and yoo're going to come back and post on here a bit more regularly. See you soon. Oh, The Transmitter Down suggested or maybe I did that we must get together and have, erm, a sort of vinyl session kind of thing. Be rather nice. Let us know how you are, old boy. Best wishes.

Whoah-ho-ho – Charlie, Jim and Smitty all posting together! It must be my birthday. Hullo chaps, good to see you all and hope life is as good as possible for you. Don't burger off again, Charlie and Jim, if you can help it, but keep in touch.

On-topic alert, I'm playing a couple of my new buys:

Sampha – Process
TORRES – Three Futures

I know BBB, The Transmitter Down and one other nom de plume, but 'Smitty' is a new one on me. Is he on the run?

Miles Davis: 'Someday My Prince Will Come' ..better believe it.

'Talking Heads 77'

Charlie Jefferson: 'The Cupboard Sessions Volume One'.

Roy Harper: 'Come Out Fighting Genghis Smith'.

Hi Jim, TD, TSP et al,

It's good to hear from you all.

I've missed a few developments: so where can TD's show be listened to and whereabouts would I find his political commentary?

Things marginally more settled at my end. I was commissioned to write a new play by some actors, and all that has taken me far and wide (well, London & Lakes, mostly) - it's had a few outings regionally, with more to come prior to it's re-configuration as a radio drama. For those interested, it's a three hander about a highly principled auteur trying to overcome his reservations about writing something commercially appealing. A comedy, in essence. Luckily, the actors are pretty good and they tolerate my flights of fancy and the rest. And even, on occasion, proffer cash!)

Music: lots. Some of it connected to the play and some my usual on going stuff. Will list some next time.

Yes, I'm up for a vinyl session meet up sometime. Most def.

Apologies for the brevity of this post, but I'm supposed to be working.

As above, it is nice to hear from you Charlie, and should you be at a loose end tomorrow between 8 and 10pm, I'll be playing some noisy ****.

Links to FB and the show are pretty easy to find with a little googling.

The Transmitter Down is just too much work to type out (tsk), so 'Smitty' it is, as far as I'm concerned.

Charlie, good to hear you've got a commission, and hope it's proving fulfilling work. I look forward to your next play, a four-hander about some deadbeats who spend their time telling each other what records they've been listening to on a, internet hi-fi forum. It's a guaranteed west-end smash.
