Argent - Nexus

A nice album from 1974. A mix of Rod Argent/Chris White prog songs, and Russ Ballard's more traditional rock/pop tunes.

Nice. Funnily enough I also played Kate Bush this morning, in honour of nothing other than I'm in the mood for it.

Iona – Iona
Kate Bush – The Sensual World
Kate Bush – The Dreaming

It's been a long time since I rock and rolled (well, a week or so but that seems ages). Birthdays, back to work, daughter's Uni drop off all took over.

So tonight I've lined up some recent FZ acquisitions, kindly puchased by my wife* from a second-hand vinyl shop in Whitby.

Freak Out

Chunga's Revenge

Ship Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch

A Man From Utopia

* she's gone out on a work's do, so I can finally give them a blast.

Nice to see you around Charlie, I thought maybe you'd joined the increasing number of forum deserters.

Just the one album tonight, Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon.

Hi BBB,

Thanks for the message. I seem to have had a lot going on recently, as mentioned, but matters vinyl are back on the main stage.

I've never owned a copy of Dark Side or even listened to it in its entirety. Should I? Could I?

My planned FZ binge was put on hold!!!! My dear wife (ahem!) isn't going out until tomorrow night, so we had a more consensual selection:

Ryan Adams new LP

Gets Schooled - John Grant

half a side of Freak Out - The Mothers/FZ

A Song For You - The Carpenters

then a mere track of Theo Parrish's Black Jazz Signature.

Well, it's good to have you back. *smile*

As for DSOTM, it's a bit overrated, but it's the best Floyd album outside of the Barrett era. I neither love it or hate it, though there are parts I love, and there are parts I hate.

I agree, mostly. Fav tune? Has to be 'Us And Them', love that laid back sax. Any interest in the upcoming album?

Hi BBB,

Mmm, it's one of those albums I'd like to have in its original vinyl form but I'm not really a Floyd fan, Syd or no Syd. Sometimes I just like to see what all the fuss might have been about. It's a cultural icon, I suppose, and yes, I know several songs and have memories of hearing it playing in various past lives BUT I've never actually bothered to dedicate any time, money or thought to it.

My brother is a big Floyd fan (through most of their mutations anyway) but doesn't make a big play for DSOTM when he's waxing lyrical about PF. He, like many, seems to prefer the albums that preceded it.

I'm rambling. . .

Has anyone splashed out on the Beatles Mono box?? I only own two original monos (Pepper and Help), so I'm vaguely tempted/intrigued.

Tonight: Zappa-fest take 2.

It's the sax I hate. To be honest, there is very little sax I like outside of jazz.

Funnily enough, one of my fav PF albums is 'Atom Heart Mother', seemingly overlooked. I know Waters hated it...
