I would look and see if you can find one of last years Samsung F6740 or F6670. Same TVs, different shades of silver. My brothers just bought one super cheap, it has been excellent. It should in theory have better motion than the H6400 as although the F6740 is a year older, its a few rungs higher up the range.

I'm in a similar position to you, tutts58x - I'm after a 46/47 inch tv, not at all worried about 3D and can't afford UltraHD and/or 4k - I just want the best possible full HD picture for under (well under, preferably) a grand. My only other requirement is an optical out, as I'm looking to run the sound through my Marantz M-CR603. My searching has, so far, left me dazed and confused... :?

Funnily enough, I'm looking at exactly the same models of the Sony and the Samsung, but also comparing those against another Panasonic that was reviewed recently, the TX-40AS640

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/tx40as640b-201406183815.htm

If it wasn't for the input lag on the panasonic above, I would jump on it right now - but I'm not sure I could live with 59ms. If only a firmware update would help this along :-/

The sony model seems to have issues interpreting remote control functions at startup, which isn't a big deal - but it would probably annoy me more than it reasonably should :)

I'll probably take the safe option and go with the Samsung, I know what I'm getting there - but then, I do feel like a change... decisions decisions.

Amongst LED TVs, Sony has the best input lag, and Vincent Teoh of HDTV Test was raving about it when I attended the TV shootout last month.

Hi,

I know this might be a redundant post now, but I too have been debating over the Samsung and Sony tv all week and found this post by Google searching one vs the other.

Just wondering if any of you have ended up with one of these 2.

I've read both reviews and think they're ideal, with 1 con per tv.

My main use for the tv would be general HD viewing and quite a lot of football/soccer viewing...

Wondering which one would be best suited to me...?

Any help would be greatly received!
