what to use as a cd transport? Now with actual words

I recently bought an Arcam BB50 DAC, I use the Original Arcam Alpha as a transport. Though it sounds great I have had to solder the Alphas digital output a good few times.

Would an Arcam 7se be a worthy or pointless replacement as a transport?

Or does anyone have any advice what would be a good sensibly priced replacement to use as a transport. Or does using an outboard DAC make it irrelevant?

I'd say 7se would be pointless upgrade. They were great CD players back in the day, but are now very long in their teeth and you are likely to experience some problems with reading discs. New decent CD-player would serve much better as a transport IMO. I doubt many people have actualy done proper testing of CDPs as transports.

But every decent HI-FI mag really should do that in this age of DACs and similar.
