What to pair with Rega PS3 RS turntable?

Very good current delivery.
The sound is very clinical.. Thin almost..
Demands their separate PSU XR to really come alive..
Integrated Phono is basic. Needs their separate phono stage to come alive.
Seeing a trend ?
PT have cheap deals on XR range….

In no way is the I9 XR a patch on the wee NAIT 50… PT have NAIT 50 too…….
Ask PT to B2B the I9 with the NAIT 50 and forget the A25 if you really want the best for your P3 RS

Thanks for this. I’m going to get them to demo that too

Thanks for this. I’m going to get a demo on Saturday, just having to drive for 2 hours. Getting a deal on a Cyrus i9-XR too, and will compare it to the A25 (I’m thinking the Cyrus is going to be a lot better?)
Can´t say much about those amplifiers, I don´t know them.

I pair the Focals with a Denon PMA-1600NE and when listening to them in the shop it was paired with the Denon PMA-1700NE.

The Denon/Focal combo is good I think. Plenty of power, smooth but clear and transparent, no fatigue.

Try to get half an hour to unwind after your drive. Maybe a wander in town, or a quiet coffee shop? Your ears get battered in the car, unless you drive a Rolls!

And whatever you hear first, try it again at the end, to see how you’ve acclimatised.

Good luck. PT are a good firm to deal with, so you should get good advice. Mine is don’t choose the biggest discount, but the biggest smile the music gives you.

This is fantastic advice, thanks!!!!

Ohhhh. Both my AV receivers in the house are Denon and I really like them. I might ask them to let me hear the Denon PMA-1700NE with the Focals!

There´s much to like about the Denon
Here a review I think it´s pretty accurate from a Dutch site.

I own the previous model, to my knowledge there´s no much difference between the 2 models.
I use the Denon´s DAC to connect a TV, for other duties I have a Topping DAC that I bought just to experiment and kept.
I don´t hear any difference between the 2 DACs, the separate DAC only advantage is that I can use the amplifier to the best of its abilities (theoretically) whereby the Denon disconnects all the digital inputs and even display if you so which, something Denon calls Analog Mode, together with the Source Direct mode whereby the tone controls are turned off.

Hi everyone - first time poster here.

I’ve just put a deposit on a Rega PS3 RS deck (new, for the home mainly 90s rock/indie/dance LPs, with 70s, 80s, 2000s thrown in), looking forward to picking it up at the weekend - I got it for £950 (with the external power box). At the demo today it was with an Arcam A15 which I really liked, but the salesman said that going for the A25 would make all the difference. I could just about swing it budget wise, but wondering what you guys think.

Is it worth going the extra money (think around £300) to match an A25 with that deck? I can get a demo of it at the weekend of course, but keen for views from others.

Also, he had it set up with KEF LS50 Meta speakers but I may go with floorstanders. Was thinking perhaps the Q Acoustics 5040 - although apparently I need to be careful matching them with the system? Another pair that caught my eye was the Focal Vestia No2 floorstanders - especially at the price Peter Tyson are currently doing them. Or would I be better of considering some other floorstanders pairing?

Overall budget for the 3 bits is £3000-£3500 (although would rather keep it low if I can).

Thanks in advance!! I’m a relative noob to all this, so any advice super appreciated.
I think you're heading in the right direction with the choice. If you're considering the Focal's also consider it's stable mate the NAIM NAIT 50, I suspect as they've merged as one company, the NAITs are probably better tuned with Vestia No2s.

Don't stop at the Arcams, there are other alternatives around the same price, such as the Hegal 90 or and, I am being totally biased, the French Atoll range of amplifiers will blow your socks off.
I so love my Atoll IN100 Signature integrated amp, it's beefy but also subtle and what ever you throw at it, it will sound amazing. Anyway, I am biased about the Atolls but there are lot of amps out there that you should consider, including the Rega Brio Mk. 7

All the best 🙂

Thanks, I’ll check all this out!!

brio mk 7 is will be a lovely little devil around £799. not too sure if they will have made any adjustment to the amplification circuitry from the current one, i found it a bit TOO warm.
was as though the amp was containing the dynamics and not quite letting them out.
was indeed musical, but i found it a tad too "warm".
YMMV

No disrespect guys but there´re enough arguments not to buy british.
Specially electronics.
True, whilst trying to remain patriotic, I am well aware of what you could be missing out on by doing so.
Unfortunately, or maybe not, I only own two pieces of British kit that was actually manufactured here.
.......meanwhile, back to the topic in hand.
