If I am going to listen to music though my PC then I always use Xbox media center as it is programed to start up once I have entered my password instead of my normal OS on my home theater PC.

PC with Logitech Media Server + SqueezeLite plugin controlled from iPeng on my iPad and Orange Squeeze on my Moto G.

The nice thing about SqueezeLite is it can use WDS/Kernel Streaming straight to my Musical Fidelity V-Link which means a constant bit-perfect stream.

Basically my fanless PC is a Squeezebox.

Customised Foobar 2K with uPnP plugin. Controlled sometimes via Linn Kinsky or Phone.

Also use Logitech Media Server for my Squeezebox Touch with web Remote control.

JRMC19 kernel streaming on a PC ... also used for ripping FLAC to NAS

Audirvana Plus on Mac

Has anyone ever tried DSD? I think I have it set up properly on both applications ... if only there was something to my taste to play in that format!!

No. I've never heard it. It's supposed to be superior to PCM, but as a home-recordist who can't tell the difference between the live analogue audio through my cans (such as the sound of my son's acoustic guitar captured by a mike into my Yamaha mixer) and the replayed 16/44 PCM recording of the same, I feel I personally am unlikely to hear a benefit. Same goes with other HD formats. But YMMV.
