My Joe Bonamassa "The Ballad of John Henry" arrived today but as I feel lousy I've left it unopened, will play tomorrow if I feel better. Really looking forward to hearing this.

Cash Convertors! Wow, I know where there are a couple of branches. You should put that into the Hot Deals part of the forum. It is great, music has never been so cheap, especially for the younger generation and students, if only they could drag their lazy backsides down to cash convertors and away from the naughty file sharing sites..................

idc, pretty good yourself MYT is a classic.

You should check out the Panopticon Charity Shop on High Street, Glasgow it can be pretty good for vinyl, CD's are a bit hit or miss tho'. The stuff I bought isn't all quite as mint as I first thought but nothing a good clean won't sort out. The Sinatra however is and a great recording on Reprise so very happy. This is the fourth Sinatra original vinyl I've managed to get in the Panopticon and they've all been in superb nick. There seems to be a real dearth of good second-hand vinyl shops in Glasgow, do you know any, most of the new stuff I've been buying is online which is fine as Soul Jazz Records are brilliant but I prefer to trawl in a shop for second-hand stuff.

Spacehopper, I haven't bought vinyl for 15 years plus so I cannot comment on condition, just the fact that there is a large selection at the Oxfam Music Shop on Byres Rd (if you are heading down from the Botanic Garden end, right hand side just after the junction with University Ave. It is supposed to open at 10.00, but the last time I was there it had not opened at 10.30). There is also a second hand shop called Play It Again Records in Ruthven Lane off Byres Rd (also on the right but before Uni Ave, go down the lane and go in through the second hand shop, open after 2pm). It had a very large selection. I am sure Fopp also do vinyl, but not much. Unfortunatley the best shop, Lost in Music is no longer there. There are however plenty of charity shops to try your luck.

cheers idc, I should maybe have read your sig then I would have realised you don't use vinyl ! It's been a while since I ventured up Byres Road so will head up soon. Lost In Music was indeed an excellent shop - it seems that most of the really good small independents are gone forever. Fopp has been pish for a while now so I tend to avoid. I will check out Play It Again which sounds more promising and a good trawl of charity shops will have to do.

A couple of green day b-sides from amazon. they sound rubbish. even tho im getting the album on cd anyway, ill download some of it and see if that sounds just as bad. i sincerely hope ill just find that said b-sides were tossed off without a care for production, while the albums production was afforded the utmost care and attention.

NSYGrinner - i plan on getting to grips with the hold steady soon.

Needs no other introduction; I picked up a copy of the pre-remaster (so the first version of the CD), mastered by Barry Diament. Brilliant.
