If I'm say, watching a film on telly (Freeview) – the TV outputs 2 channel via phono to my AV amp – is there a 'best' setting ? is Pro Logic the best or just an option ?

What's Neo 6 Cinema? It sounds quite good... seems to make better use of the rears. Or is it all just personal preference?

NEO 6

Pro-Logic and Neo 6 are both options and if one of them sounds best to you then great, stick to that.

Both have to conjure up additional channels from a stereo mix. Purists may say stick to stereo, others will prefer the sound created by Pro-Logic / Neo 6.

As always, what you prefer is what is correct.

Cool. Thank you.

I think Pro Logic is better for things like the news and more dialogue intensive stuff, and Neo 6 Cinema for films (as intended I guess).

I'm watching '300' at the mo (good grief it's awful...) and Neo 6 seems to separate the channels better.

I'd wondered whether Neo 6 was 'over' processing - if you know what I mean...

It is - both Dolby Pro Logic IIx and DTS Neo:6 Cinema are processing modes that take stereo sound and convert it into 5.1, 6.1 or even 7.1 formats.
