Ive become tired of indie/rock/pop and searching for something different in current music. Something like taking two steps back to move one step forward ? Or something like that.

I discovered why I left vinyl some 20 years ago, my brand new DSOTM has some new pops and crackles in it everytime I play it, iv done nothing but care for it too!

Been into dance music for some 25 years but some of the youngsters producing D&B this year has been amazing.

Best album of the year for me rudimental - home.

It's the reason I don't buy music by new bands. There's 50-60 years of great music out there, and as nearly all decent modern music is heavily influenced by what has gone before, I'd rather buy the original stuff.

Bought tons of albums this year. Need to recheck before I post more titles.

Me too, have re-joined the vinyl-craze ... after a month I came to the conclusion that my dad's old vinyl collection with releases from '67-'83 sounded far better than the new ones I bought. And he even didn't take much care of them: no cleaning, basic player with cheap cartridge,...

I already gave up buying new vinyl and just listening to my dad's and aunt's used vinyl. Some are in bad condition, but the majority absolutely sounds better than anything new I bought. Even better than some "niche releases" on audiophile labels.

A large part of the new releases had various issues: too long playing time on one side, was warped, had cracks/pops,... E.g. two sides of my Arcade Fire "Reflektor" vinyl is just unplayable and I read similar comments at different sites. I'm done with new vinyl.

I got myself a Qobuz-subscription for CD Quality-streaming which is highly recommended. The only thing I miss is the artwork. Some albums suffer from loudness wars related issues but I think Vinyl isn't the right thing to avoid these issues.

Most of the time I'm listening to Qobuz stream now. The albums I really like, I buy on cd afterwards. Occasionally an audiophile sacd from Audio Fidelity, Analogue Productions, MFSL,...

Pete Jolly - Live in L.A. - simple recording, lots of folk chatting in the background, but just adds ambience to a great slice of the era

No one springs to mind, though I've heard loads of stuff I like on Radio Paradise, and also Spotify for listening to peoples recomendations on here, to see if I want to buy it. On that note, and going against the grain, loads of people on here were banging on about Daft Punk's Random Access Memories so I played it on Spotify. Once, enough said.

Same here. I've downloaded the two tracks 'Give Life Back to Music' and 'Get lucky' but the rest of the album wasn't to my taste at all. I much prefer their older more upbeat dance stuff.

Haken - The Mountain / awesome CD ! Best progressive metal/rock I've heard in a long time. Musicians are incredible and the songs are very diverse.

Chvrches - The Bones of what you Believe / Never liked electro pop but this is just so good. Love the voice and not one weak song on this album.

Biggest discovery: Resident Records in Brighton. Knew it was there but only earlier this year did I notice the vinyl section which has recently expanded yet again. Very good selection and helpful staff. Been very heavy on the pocket too!
