When I went to see the Arctic Monkeys somebody gave me a cd by an unsigned band called This Modern Youth. You'll definitely hear of them soon.

Pete Jolly - Live in L.A. - simple recording, lots of folk chatting in the background, but just adds ambience to a great slice of the era

If you like that then you should like Bill Evans: Complete Village Vanguard Recordings 1961

Although he is east coast its one of the best live jazz recordings.

In fact I was going through Village Vanguard albums recently there are some pretty good ones.

I discovered why I left vinyl some 20 years ago, my brand new DSOTM has some new pops and crackles in it everytime I play it, iv done nothing but care for it too!

Been into dance music for some 25 years but some of the youngsters producing D&B this year has been amazing.

Best album of the year for me rudimental - home.

+1 for rudimental.although only discovered them really last week at a gig a mate had organised. Rekindled my love for dance stuff. Home.....top album, and having a quick listen last night to disclosure.....I think they are in similar vein,

Ok for me it is in no particular order...

Norah Jones - the fall, Ash - Free all angels, Daughtry - baptized, Jake Bugg - both albums, Paul Mcartney New and Kisses on the bottom, Lissie - Cathching a Tiger, Discolsure - Settle, Birdy - Birdy , Chase & Status - Brand New Machine, Pearl Jam, Jessie J- Alive, Kings of Leon - Mechanical Bull, Haim - Days are Gone, Suede - Bloodsports, Avicii - True, The Strokes - Comedown Machine.

Finally my faves David Bowie, Imagine Dragons, Temperence Novement and Kodaline.

...On that note, and going against the grain, loads of people on here were banging on about Daft Punk's Random Access Memories so I played it on Spotify. Once, enough said.

Same here. I've downloaded the two tracks 'Give Life Back to Music' and 'Get lucky' but the rest of the album wasn't to my taste at all. I much prefer their older more upbeat dance stuff.

Try camo and krooked - zeitgeist if you some good funky house with a little of the daft punk sound.

yea disclousure -settle is a good album, try chase and status - brand new machine as well.

Rudimental, well what them young hackney guys have put out as a debut album is pretty amazing, the layering on their tracks is superb. Seen them twice this year, they totally rocked Brixton academy.
