It is definitely a subjective task, I am shocked by "The Business" though Kestrel!

Off the top of my head and if I thought more, I'm sure it would change.....

Goodfellas
Betty Blue
Naked
Edward Scissorhands
No Country For Old Men
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Pulp Fiction
Godfather
Amelie
City of God

The Business is a great fun film, fab 80's soundtrack as well !

so far I have forgotten three films that should have been in my top 10 , Jaws, Donnie Darko and Pans Labyrinth.

I drew up that original top ten too quickly .

Hi,

A quick think gives the following:

Aliens

Batman

The Thing (Carpenter's)

Pulp Fiction

Gone In 60 Seconds

Terminator 2

Reservoir Dogs

Star Wars

The Lion King

Jurassic Park

Given longer thought the above list would probably change...

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Couldn't agree more, so many films so many choices. Your list reminded me of a classic saga I wouldn't want to miss on my list: INDIANA JONES.
So, Good Will Hunting has to go to make space for Indiana Jones.

Fight Club

Blade Runner

Singles

The Empire Strikes Back

Wow. I never thought I'd see a great Kubrick film (2001: A Space Odyssey) sat next to a really dreadful parody of a Kubrick film (AI) on a best films list.

Still, lots of great shouts: It didn't occur to me, but Pi is great. And Taxi. And Matrix...

Yes, this a good thread. Just the thing to distract me from doing some actual work...

So many to choose from:

Goodfellas
Amelie
The Apartment
Broadway Danny Rose
Platoon
When We Were Kings (Documentary I know but too good to miss out)
Some Like it Hot
Blade
Leon
Into The Wild

So many more to mention but I'd be happy watching that lot over and over again.

I watched Pi. The 'sh' was silent, obviously.

Isn't subjectivity great?

Blimey, this is almost impossible - almost cruel, actually. Like Sophie's Choice, but for your movie collection...

Here are 10, based solely on watchability, not (as is obvious when you go down the list) artistic merit. In no particular order.and subject to change within nanoseconds:

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Goldfinger (today's Bond of choice - could be just about any. Apart from Moonraker. Or View to a Kill)

Pulp Fiction

The Empire Strikes Back

The Big Lebowski (today's Coen Bros choice - could be just about any. Apart from The Ladykillers).

Grosse Point Blank

Moulin Rouge

It's a Wonderful Life

The Philadelphia Story/High Society (same story/script...but how can you choose between Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant?)

Goodfellas

I loved AI. In fact I have probably watched it more times than any other film apart from Pi.

It's obviously not a tour de force in filmmaking, but it had the necessary ingredient for me...watchability.

I also loved Daredevil with Ben Affleck!
