Spotify - Traffic

It'd be a shame to cull it as it's full of interesting suggestions for new bands/albums to listen to.

Currently Spotifying this tribute album (while watching the tennis). I had never heard of this 2006 album till now, and it is really good I have to say. All the tracks are revisited songs from Serge Gainsbourg by a number of well-known pop/rock acts (from Placebo or Franz Ferdinand to... Carla Bruni

) with some interesting collaborations such as Kid loco & Jarvis Cocker. I like it so much I might even get the CD in. Loving it!!!

Pere Ubu reminded me of Souxsie and The Banshees, so will have a listen to them next.

Saw that and had a listen to the Wire album on Spotify too. Great stuff - also checked out the Read & Burn eps which are quite superb. Have always loved Wire's first three classic albums but not really listened to their later stuff - now considering buying some - cheers.

Another one from Spotify. I would highly recommend anyone who is into the likes of Sigur Ros, prog rock instrumental and Brian Eno gives this a listen to..........................phenominal...................it will give your system a good workout..............

I don't like BSPs other albums, so looked at Spotify's similar artists and now listening to the superb Clearlake. Fantastic quality of recording as well....................

And Dev's latest was sitting on the mat when I got home. So currently got it on. Mellower than 'Strapping..' (But then I guess everything else is anyway). Not bad so far, but it's no 'Terria'...

Still on Spotify and finding new music with the 'Similar Artists' recommendations. So from British Sea Power to Clearlake to.....

...Interpol, who are OK and remind me of REM to And You'll Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, who are excellent.

Going way back to my, ahem, youth, I'm currently listening to an old album that dropped through my letter box today, Hot Wired Monstertrux, took me ages to find it again after my original tape copy snapped, it's still awesome!

"There's only one thing left for me to do Momma. I gotta ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long!"

Just my opinion of course.

Motown - The Ultimate Collection (3 cd set)

Bought this for the missus a short while back. Took her out to the country today (well you`ve got to every now and again haven`t you!) and we got through most of this set in the car.

I was just working from one album to another. Is there a particular Interpol album/track you would recommend? I also think that REM are OK. Don't know why as they make music I should like, but as you say momo72 it is all very subjective. Not off Spotify.....

Heart - `Little Queen` (vinyl)

Actually played this yesterday when the sun was still shining. For me a great summer album, especially track 4. `Dream Of The Archer`.

ESCALA. You may remember them as one of the finalists in last years Britains Got Talent.(Should have won it IMO, a lot more entertaining than a young kiddie spinning on his head).

The girl band with the electric violins. Their first album now out and pretty damn good. Gets better the louder you play it for some reason, or maybe thats just me. One or two tracks bring memories of Curved Air flooding back and a nice cover of Led Zepps Kashmir with Slash guesting on guitar. Some well known classical stuff in there as well.

Well worth a listen.

I particularly like their Antics album, although I don't think I own (came from the local library, IIRC). 4/5

I still prefer their first album personally
