Martin Grech, 'Unholy'. One of the most spinetingly, powerful and atmospheric albums I have ever heard...

Prog/metal/ambient.

It was a miss for me. I love 'Open Heart Zoo' and 'March of the lonely', but 'Unholy' was a mess, to my ears. BTW, he was dropped by his record label, so is now producing his stuff independently. He has just released his first independent album, 'Meta' through his official Facebook page.

I'm with Ian here. I really like 'Open Heart Zoo', but 'Unholy' edges it.

I haven't heard any of his other stuff though.

'March of the Lonely' is Martin's stripped back to basics record. Just his voice and a guitar. Shows of his superb range brilliantly.

He's such a talented guy, it's unbelievble that his record label dropped him. He was only 19 when 'Open Heart Zoo' came out! It's crazy that a boy of 19 could write such a complex, multi-layered record. I hope he gets the success he deserves, now he's doing it on his own.

Not for everyone but Spotify now have content from Hyperdub records which includes the atmospheric dub step mummering of Burial and their album Untrue.

I'm a big fan of his music, not his philosphies or egotistical meaderings, but he really has to write some new tunes soon...that's 3 album releases now and nothing new to offer, just reinterpretations of his own, older songs...it's getting a but obvious now !!!

Tom Kerstens' G Plus Ensemble - Utopia

"A true poet of the guitar...", playing with violins, violas and cellos. Modern classical that's not grating or too repetitive and soporific (IMHO). Features compositions by John Metcalfe (ex-Durutti Column) and Joby Talbot (ex-The Divine Comedy). Lovely!
