I'm not always a fan of Karajan but this is a truly great recording of the Richard Strauss. The sense of wonderment and involvement is palpable and the playing of the Berlin Phil as incredible. Fabulously good recording from DG too.
One disc from this fabulous set containing Cherkassky's wonderful recordings of the Franck 'Prelude, Choral et Fugue', the Grieg Sonata, and the Rachmaninov Corelli Variations.
