As with the last album, I'm sure that this will grow on me over time. Plenty of precise, dazzling technique, etc. I did find that Spiral took a while to really get under my skin. But it does sound good though!

Paganini

And his Italian chums make a damn good CD player of the same name.....!

Other than that, currently the remastered OMD Architecture and Morality. For a remastered disc, they haven't futzed the sound up too much which is a bonus!

Moved on to Led Zep 2 - 1980s German vinyl pressing; nice sounding one too!

I've been listening to the new Oasis album, Dig Out Your Soul, and actually rather enjoying it. I've always been put off by the swagger, the vocal exaggerations and the almost Cranberries level of simplicity in their lyrics, so I really wasn't expecting much, but actually, it was very good. They still shove in too many Beatles pastiches, but they're more restrained than they used to be, and in the extra space there are touches of everything from glam to psychedelia and even a whisper of Americana in places. Its so much more interesting and varied than I've come to expect of Oasis.

Although perhaps it's just that nothing else can seem derivative after reviewing The Metros.

GHQ - Square Growth Sessions (Sloow Tapes Cassette)

ghq_cvr.jpg

One of my favorite releases from the GHQ people. Mainly due to the tracks being sufficiently extended to allow some development of the music, unlike their "high profile" releases, though excellent, mostly are annoyingly truncated. Featuring some lovely long drones, released last year in a ridiculously limited edition of 150 copies.
