I'm no expert on this (I'm not even a gamer) you need someone like Professorhat to answer this but I think he answered this before and you need to send the signal in bitstream from the PS3.

By bumping this back to the top of the list you might get someone who knows to answer.

You might be lacking replies as this is posted in the wrong section...

Same question was asked only a day or so ago - answer copied and pasted:

The PS3 can't bitstream HD audio, so you will never see your amp displaying the HD lights on the front.ÿ It has to decode internally and output as LPCM.ÿ As long as your PS3 is setup as follows you're getting HD audio.ÿ It does sound like your setup is correct but to recap:

On the PS3 select sound settings

Select HDMI

Select AUTO

Check that all the Dolby Digital, DTS and all the PCM boxes are ticked (inc. 7.1)

Save

Go to the BD/DVD settings

Select PCM as the audio setting and again save

ÿ
That
should be it.ÿ Set your amp to auto and ensure you select the HD audio
track in the menu and you can see which audio format is being played by

pressing the display button during playback.ÿ
