Absolutely fantastic. I think Mr Gandy is getting old enough now where he's perhaps worried about the future of the brand and his role in it as he ages. I'm absolutely ecstatic to see that he's created a plan by which the uniqueness of rega stays at the forefront of the company going forward.

That uniqueness is what has always attracted me to Rega, not to mention of course the phenomenal sound quality of their products. Over the last few years as Roy's visibility within the hi-fi community has seemed to take a step back and of course his obvious advancing age, has made me question the ultimate future of the company without him. So many great hi-fi companies that were founded with a particular vision , by a singular individual , often either completely change or change enough to where the essence or soul of the company is no longer recognizable when that individual steps away or unfortunately passes away, I'm looking at you Naim.

Again I'd like to say that I am absolutely delighted to hear that he has put in place plans to maintain not only the structure of the company but also maintain the idiosyncrasies that make rega one of the finest if not the finest Hi-Fi company in the world.

No production moved to china or blutooth speakers Not like most of the old british brands

Do Hope they start releasing more than 1or2 NEW products every year
And hopefully they will re-jig their QC department looking at the number of issues that we have on this for regarding their amps.
Nobody is perfect I know but they seem to have more than their fair share.

So I'm an American and for the last 15 years with a short sojourn trying out other brands, rega has been my go-to company. During all of that time I actually have never had any issues with their amplifiers, however I have had issues with their CD players and most most spectacularly with their turntables. I've had everything from the rp1 to the rp3 to the planar 6 to my new planar 8, and every one and I repeat every one of those turntables has had a problem with it. Whether it be anti-skate not working correctly, or tone arm bearings being maladjusted, or even simply something as innocuous as broken dust covers. Luckily the American distributor for their products has been absolutely fantastic when it comes to these issues and has rectified every single problem I've ever had , And don't get me started on the number of issues I've had with various CD players, I have actually given up on Rega CD players. I honestly had a dealer tell me that something happens to them on the boat or planes bringing the products over to the states.

About their amplifiers, I'm currently running a elicit r as my main amp and have a newer io as a desktop/bedroom amplifier and both of those have been faultless. So has my older brio3 that I no longer own or my older brio r or my older maia Poweramp, all of them have been absolutely perfect.

All of that said I have been absolutely over the moon over the years with their products and will continue to buy their products.

Going back years, long before this site originally closed, Rega have had a scary amount of issues, from humming ampliers to noisy turntables to many other quality issues. They need to get back to basics of making great turntables....
Unfortunately they cannot survive on turntables alone these days with the amount of competition that is now around. I haven't owned a Rega turntable since my Planar 3.
They need to seriously rethink their amplifier and cd range developments.
These are the days of DACs and streamers and they aren't going to get these right if they haven't sussed a decent amplifier layout.

True. I just think they have too many fingers in too many pies. They need to reassess their range, take out the stuff don't that isn't typical Rega. IMHO, Rega will always be associated with quality turntables.

That's loyalty to a brand 👍
If every customer was as forgiving as you, they wouldn't have to bother with QC.

(P. S. I did amp QC at Rega for a while, my amps wouldn't have had problems 👼)
