Your elderly neighbour, oh bless. Maybe as a good friendship gesture, you can give her a bottle of gin, should give you a few hours grace once she's fallen asleep
🤣
One thing I love about headphones, is guilt free listening.
You mentioned Portable DAC for your Pixel, the Fosi Audio DS1 DSD Hifi DAC Headphone Amplifier comes to mind; these are selling for about £66 on Amazon, should be more than sufficient enough power to drive the Sennheiser's when you're on the go. It's also a DAC, should give you better sound quality than your Pixel.
There was a time I would use my mobile for music listening but got easil
y distracted by the popups and the downside it was a terrible drain on the battery. I've switched to DAP and is well worth the investment.

My TempoTec V6 has amplified outputs (right) and these bad boys can run any headphone, I suspect no problem powering up the Sennheiser HD-650's.
You probably want to use close headphones with your Pixel? I know I have been evangelical about the FiiO FT1 but these are mighty fine budget headphones, these will be great for outdoors, I hate earplugs, and for £130, it's a steal!

We do seem to share a sense of humour 😂,
I said something similar to my partner about when she unbeknownst to me came back just as early as she was merry from the bingo, honestly she got her garden chair out on the green to listen to "The Lumineers" reverberating out of my front window, seeing her as I walked over to the window in embarrassment I spied she was tapping her little feet, she likes to paint in her adjacent enclosed porch, on occasion she's been unexpectedly home to hear Vivaldi and other classical bangers I sporadically play to comment on how she finds it relaxing, as cringy as it sounds (I must say myself I see a certain related allure to painting whilst listening to an absolute art form whilst "trying to" creating another)
There is a serious side though laughs aside, I've been the victim of a drum and bass tosser before with low frequency vibrations droning through the walls, thud, thud, until stupid o'clock, in the end it came to things I'm not proud of but took immense satisfaction in, turns out my also in his late 60s neighbour at the time had been suffering it for yrs with both environmental health and the police not acting on any of their empty promises, so I always keep the hifi off when my neighbour is knowingly in, I don't mind telling you I only get pleasure from music up loud not to quote myself 😂 but " a numerical volume dial is like a percentage of joy to me" and just wouldn't intentionally do that to her, putting aside the rare times she's been home without me knowing I use the Sennheiser's with the Marantz which actually is as reviewed (for once 😁) and in its own right a good little headphone amp, before that I was happy with the Austrian HI-X15's that surprised me after wearing in, boxing way above their weight yet all respect was lost as they "killed themselves", committing suicide in a dark draw alone, one of those weird instances where they got put away working then got back out to be found broken 😮
Oooops I've done the old getting sidetracked again 😁 I'm ok for popups the phone has a premium streaming service without adds etc and fully downloadable content in all those silly acronyms that to me never compare to CD for those instances when offline, the quite old now 😮Google pixel 7 pro has a surprisingly good audio quality with LDAC for sending to the IFI ZEN I don't now use 😂, coincidentally it was a main factor in selecting it, both the larger 5,000mah battery and the ability to switch off the screen when playing music in the background means it doesn't impact the battery much between charges but just not the whoompf needed for the Sennheiser's, please however don't think I'm ignoring or down playing your advice as what your indicating with playing music via a phone is normally⌖bang⌖on correct on both counts of eating the battery and in most cases of the people I know who indeed use free Spotify etc hence get deafened when the advert blasts through their headphones irrespective of having the volume "normaliser" selected
I absolutely agree about the "open back" 🎧 although I've been finding them quite useful when riding a bike etc so I can hear the traffic BUT get exactly what you pertain to as I've been sat next to "that bloke" on the bus or trying to relax in a coffee shop whilst a "LOUdcasTer" smashes out another cacophonous performance by sam smith.
Good call 🤙on the little Fosi as I was thinking along the lines of a Mojo DAC/amp so it could be used as a (main) for both indoor and outdoor headphones but they are pricey especially given that I'm happy with the Marantz CD 60 indoors combined with that the Hegal also has a headphones-out which is predictably good so I will be having a think as it looks just the ticket.
If I can't repair the Austrian HI-X15's I'll certainly have a listen to the Fiio's at richer sounds, I remember at the time the HI-X15's where in the same limelight as best budget headphones, I was surprised at just how good they "sounded", maybe it's a tad unfair having a dig at em for going faulty but it's happened as usual out of warranty and without hardly any use 😡
As for the "earplugs" type headphones, i have a history with those little buggers on 3 occasions causing compacted ear wax, in one instance the pressure build up became quite painful causing me to syringe my own ears in which a large reddened lump of ear wax came out the size of a pea 🤮 suffice to say "for the love of music" I switched to over-ear cans and never looked back.
Ps you've gone and done it that Tempo Tec V6 🎣"Jasononvich" 😂 sh?t it even has a cool name 😎 it's real candy to my eyes, even though I don't need one I keep flicking through the plethora of very good reviews and thinking up thinking up reasons to justify it's purchase 😜
(Ps as always thanks for taking the time to reply and share the link)
