Omg, PistonHeads is Haymarket as well?

I see a chap named Matt Dell is the 'senior web developer' there.

There's a site that was reasonably user friendly until they totally messed it up. Darn.

Since you said you share devs for all brands I'm wondering who the person or persons are who are accountable for such an immense screw up on two very busy, well recognised sites....!

Andy,

Good luck getting the site back to something more manageable. The important thing isn't that errors get made, it's what you do about them. I hope you get normal service resumed asap, because I spend a lot of time on here!

After a couple of days it still isn't great but I don't think it is terrible. Swap the text font for something a bit darker and that would solve a lot of the issues for me. Obviously the bugs need fixing but that is normal.

The "Products" area is a bit hard to navigate and the pop up ads are a real pain.

Give them a week or so guys and I think it will be fine.

Chris

Your "multiple previous answers" don't appear to have answered whether or not this new website is GOING TO WORK ON WINDOWS 8 PHONE????

Surely you don't expect to be sitting in the garden, in the sunshine, when WHF have dropped this blooper on their readership/membership????? Although, some of the other people responsible for this nightmare transition should be answering the flack, not just you.

I notice you complain that problems should have been notified when the Beta was up for comment and yet people told you about the sizing problems and nothing was done about it. Hardly likely to get more people to comment on future Betas, wouldn't you say??????

I knew nothing about beta roll out. It clearly wasn't made obvious.

The Beta testing was done by members of the What Hi-fi? club. (There was a brief chance for everyone else to try it and comment a couple of weeks ago IIRC.)

We invited visitors to the Bristol Show and Gadget Show to join the newly formed WHF? Club - by signing up, they got a free digital issue of the mag and the chance to become beta testers and approved user reviewers on the new website. We have around 350 members so far.

It takes me a couple of minutes to log in, but then I am okay it seems. *clapping*

I haven't seen quite a few of the regulars recently!

Hmm, Bootstrap by any chance?

Re the forum, the new editor is *far* better, easier to use (especially for embedding images and the like) and doesn't seem to fall over every other time, like the old one did.

One problem with images displayed in posts: if they are larger than the max width available in the post display, they are squashed horizontally. They need to be reduced in size proportionally, so for e.g. an LP cover remains square. (This may well have been noted before but I don't have time to read through the entire thread.)

I am getting used to it a bit now, not many people posting though.

Not much a-happenin'.....unless of course you want to moan about the new site.*scratch_one-s_head*

Should we all be seing the "report" button?

Also, Mr Duncan can you check I'm in the non spammy usergroup, I was getting prompted to do a word verification check a few days ago.

Thanks.

I have just left feedback via the tab. I don't like it, text is far too bulky, it's like plugging a mobile website into a 40" TV.

By any chance, has the Auto Editing (of swear words) been by-passed with the transfer of posts over to the new site?

No. Nor the 'delete' one either. They are part of a moderator's toolkit.

('Content' 'Structure' and 'Configuration' buttons look like they belong to a mod / admin type as well.)

Yep. Does it take you about 4 mins to log in and it loads up while waiting? And at times you can't post replies? Sometimes I am enjoying it, other times I am just bemused and frustrated

Since the first attempt took a long time, I haven't logged out since.

Indeed. Id have thought people should see the 'report' button though, since that's 'flag as offensive' in old money. It might even work now, I haven't tried it. Or are you saying everybody can see the delete button as well. That wouldn't be so good...

Regarding Logging In, once you enter your email and password and hit ok, a confirmation + redirect alert popup appears. Don't wait for the redirect, it's not working, just click further in the site or just refresh the page and you will notice you are in.

No, that disappeared with the upgrade.

Maybe WHF? staff (and mods) should also have an ordinary vanilla 'userid' (like we have) in order to see what we see after upgrades are made.

(For example the 'signature' box that Andy could see on settings but we couldn't.)

Lol! That's what I shall do too now. *smile*
