sorry for being sarcastic, I hope, and expect, that the site will improved in the end. I can understand that you can't throw away a years investment overnight.

No Joe I'm not misunderstanding.

So Panasonic have achieved NO Best Buy acknowledgements other than in TVs, where ACCORDING TO YOU [and in the search I have previously described to you] they have achieved one????????

Actually, and rather unsurprisingly, Joe is correct in what he's saying. You've just got yourself in such a stew over this I'm not sure you're listening.

What Joe is saying is, Panasonic have only got products in one category in the Best Buys section, and that's in TVs. If you don't believe me, check like I've just done by clicking through all the Best Buys categories - the only one that has a Panasonic product is TVs. So, given there are no Panasonic products in the current [/b]Best Buys list other than under TVs, when you search for Panasonic, the only thing that comes up under Best Buys is the TVs list. Click on this, and you're taken to the Best Buys TVs category, where sure enough, you'll find a Panasonic TV.

For a better example, try typing "Sony" into the search - you'll see three categories under Best Buys - Blu-ray players, Surround systems and Home Cinema amplifiers i.e. the three sections where there are currently Sony devices which are recommended as Best Buys. Now type "Sony BDP" in search (as if you're looking for a certain Blu-ray player, but not sure which). You'll see just one entry in the Best Buys list which is the Blu-ray players Best Buys category (i.e. it has narrowed down the search as it's clear you're no longer after a Surround system or Home cinema amp). Finally, type in "Sony BDP-S6200" to completely narrow it down. You'll see 0 items in the Best Buys list because that particular Blu-ray player isn't a Best Buys recommendation.

I think the issue is, you're expecting that Best Buys list to list individually all the Panasonic (or Sony or Samsung etc.) devices which are Best Buys - but this is not how the system works. Now, if you think that's how it should work, that's one thing. But it's not broken, it's working perfectly as designed. You may not agree with the way it has been designed, but this is what you need to say if this is the case, rather than agressively and abusively insulting people and calling things broken when they're not.

Is it really too late to re-instate the old website?

Yes?

Good.

I am catching up on my reading (especially some of the Kindle books I bought on my iPad), I am also catching up on some of the paperbacks i've bought in the last few months.

I've even been cooking today (home made Cornish pasties) and for the last few days the temptation to come here at all has begun to diminish.

I've been planning a 5 day break in early September for the wife and I.

I have dug out my (almost unused) new Fujifilm X20 camera and got both batteries charged up and have been out practicing with it.

The site is now virtually unusable on an iPhone 5, semi-unusable on the iPad Mini and just sad to contemplate on a laptop or PC.

It's not just the long, long list of problems and bugs (which I doubt will ever all be fixed) but the general dumbing down. (I'm sure you'll protest this last point but I am convinced this is what is happening/has happened.)

I could try other hi-fi forums but they are, on past experience, mostly snakepits. Besides, I am getting into getting out of here a lot more and enjoying it.

I'm not flouncing out in a huff, but please leave things exactly as they are so I don't get tempted to visit as often as I used to.

It's good for me.
Yep, totally agree Chebby. It isn't useable on my iPad either. I am just going to do some other things while it gets sorted. I have managed to post a little tonight, and will continue to but I am going away next week for two weeks and the rest is good from the site.

I have to disagree with some of the previous posts that say the website is unusable on a phone. I have tried the website on BlackBerry Z10 and Q5. Whilst there are some functional glitches and there are some questionable aesthetic choices for the most part it can be used well enough. Pages load and adjust very fast for me and but for some hint of judder as sections readjust (especially the news section image boxes) it's ok to use.

PS please lose those oversized blue buttons - they waste so much space on a phone *dash1*

PPS Before anyone gets the wrong impression - I think the site is still far from where it needs to be - it certainly isn't "unusable".

Thanks for explaining it better than me!

For the record, a search on the old site for 'Samsung 55in TVs' returned precisely zero reviews and zero Best Buy pages.

Remove 'new & updated' and 'active' - replace with old 'unread'. remove not answered. Loadsa space saved. Entering logon/password a pain on Galaxy tab but ok on phone. Guess getting it right for every device is gonna take a while.. Hot here eh?

Looks much better! *biggrin* When logging in still get 'you are being re-directed' dialog box but that don't happen *shok* - That's on a desk PC running Windows.
Sometimes I find you have to click on the X top right of the dialog box to remove it, refresh your browser and then you'll be logged in. Quicker than waiting for something to happen.

Weird. I logged in (Chrome, Mac) and the box popped-up, then went away and page refreshed and took my to my profile page.

Every time I try and post more than a couple of paragraphs and try to post it won't let me saying I have triggered the spam filter .

This is very frustrating *dash1*

I am on the point of giving up completely *help*

Not to mention the highly annoying word verification on smaller posts , this is also a real problem with impaired eyesight as well .

The forum pages have improved but still can't understand why everything has to be so BIG! When I look at the site on a PC (my prefferd option) and click on Products, News, Best Buys, Forums etc. once the page has finished loading all I can see is an advert! In this respect the old site was definitely better.
