Weak Passwords.

We are regularly told about making strong passwords but switching MY laptop on this morning with the password that Rachel decided on, I thought it might be time for another light hearted post.
My kids say my laptop password is such a "typical mum password" ***********************
I think my passwords are fairly strong but you never know.
One from a now defunct account was **********

Anyone else had family members use amusing weak passwords?

I appreciate that I'm not asking for passwords. My laptop never leaves the house and to be fair it's only the start up password that I could disable. The password I posted is for a defunct account and I've not reused that password for any other accounts.

I use a password manager, so all my passwords are strong (as I only need to remember one, or I would if I didn't use biometrics where possible)

I also enable 2FA/MFA where possible and use passkeys over passwords where supported.

I use biometrics on most of mine and 2 part authentication. The accounts I use passwords for are not major.

My wife used 123456 for 20 years without incident until she was forced to change it. Hackers go after corporate victims as the rewards are much higher. Scammers attack individuals and trick them into handing over passwords, no matter how strong they are.

My wife's passwords aren't great but, mine are all like this: ndvq3rb8yqw8rgn as I just hit keys randomly using all fingers to create a new password, then just make sure they are saved, because there is no way I'm remembering them. Also, my bank app on the phone uses face recognition and, the website on the PC, requires authorisation through the phone app.

There’s a great little diagram I’ve seen somewhere, probably Facebook, that shows how many characters, and how many upper, lower case, punctuation, numbers, etc., to prevent passwords being guessed by a powerful computer.

I got a call from a credit card company at 06:50 on Christmas Eve. Was I trying to book a holiday with trip.com? No, says I, I was sound asleep. Well we blocked it and will order you a replacement card asap. Obviously the crooks didn’t get through all the steps. But I’ve also had scam purchases on Amazon this year - the last was for 20 water jugs apparently - so maybe a strapped hotelier was trying to clone my account! 😜

My common password for work, use to be in referenced to my old boss.

As he's long left the organisation and has become the bane of other people's life, I have become much more polite in my choice of passwords! 🤣

They do.
Don't judge the scammed they say, because it can happen to anyone.
Well sorry, but I do judge quite a few of them. Yes, scammers are horrible, clever bastards, but some people are just too trusting (stupid) for their own good.

I can say for sure that if anyone ever talks me into giving my password/ PIN number and they clear my account, then they really will have earned every penny.
(I've currently got 3 or 4 accounts with £1 in each).
