Not specifically, but stabilising the mains supply does increase the live of the equipment plus allowing it to have less noise through the circuitry giving better performance.
Proper Mains transformers with big smoothing caps are costly, (£800+ new) individual PSX units are cheaper (that do a similar job) and separate power supplies with decent capacitance is only found on some high end gear. The trouble being you need a big unit to house it all!
What surprises me is how few know of this, and the lack of interest from most retailers.
I suppose that's marketing for you. However one wouldn't dream of running the car on contaminated fuel so why run your hi fi on it!
