After a leek, i now have a flooded 'man room' and my ceiling mounted InFocus IN76 took a beating. Its not repairable and would ideally like a like for like replacement as i've been very pleased with it over the last couple of years. My only complaint is it is a bit noisy.

Anybody got any idea of what to replace it with or know where they still sell them. Budget c. £1,200.

Or do i forget about the projector and get a 50" LCD TV instead?

The noise is a drawback of DLP. I think I've yet to hear a quiet DLP.

You could try the mitsubishi HC3800, as that's quoted as 25dB, which is about as quiet a DLP as I've seen. I've never seen a quote for the noise level of the IN76, but given that their new £3k SP8602 is 28dB, I suspect the IN76 to be between 28dB and 30dB.

Alternatively, you'd need to look at DiLA or LCD projectors, which are much quieter, nearer the 20dB mark or even less in the case of the LCD's from Mitsubishi, but will cost more.
