Waiting for a Sony...

First of all, any news on when the 46HX703 will be back in stock?

Secondly, whats the idea with the latest line up?

I would like a 46" LCD TV with 200Hz and Edge LED, without 3D. It appears the answer is no.

The 46HX703 is not edge LED but 200Hz, the 46NX703 is edge LED but not 200Hz, the 46EX703 is edge LED but not 200Hz (why buy the NX then?) and the rest are silly money in an area I don't want which is 3DTV.

I could go to the 52NX703 but again, silly money and what am I buying, added value wise from the NX range thats different in the EX range?

Instead of producing one good, non 3DTV, Sony seems to hedging their bets and unable to make up their mind which way to go with the technologies and using the public to field trial what they feel is best.

A lot of people are mentioning Plasma again but surely thats a dying technology?

There is also a lot of talk about Samsung but do they compete at this price bracket?

waiting your advice... []

plasma tech is peaking , not dying , the panasonic 50v20 is a brilliant set , and should be considered imo ..

samsungs edge led models are not bad either , although reviews suggest that in 2d form at least , the sony edge lit models are a little better , but theyre also more expensive ..

Hi maxflinn

'sony 46nx803 .. edge lit led , 200 hz and good reviews '

Sony Bravia website quoting 100Hz for the 46NX803?! the 52NX is 200Hz...

Can anyone else (especially from Sony) confirm that their website is wrong and the 46NX803 is 200Hz?

if you google "sony kdl-40nx803 reviews" you will find a few reviews ...

not the 46in i know , and theres no guarantee the two will be exactly the same performance/quality wise , but they probably will ..

Hi Maxflinn

I can't find a 46NX803 anywhere. Only misspelt 46NX703 which is where my confusion lays when you mentioned it. I also looked at the 46NX703 on the website and called it the 803...

Everyone is also talking about 46HX713s and their immiment release. Why the Sony Website does not want to show its full range, if these actually exist, I don't know.

Thanks for the info about the panny, not sure which way to jump as getting to see any of these models is ridiculous as they don't have any in the showrooms...

If I wait another year with my trusty WEGA CRT 32, I'll go mad as I have been waiting for the market to settle on technologies... which it still hasn't. LEDs with backlight and pixel problems, plasmas with colour smearing and blurred movement problems... need to jump onboard at sometime but not with these compromised solutions....

All technologies have their problems when it comes to tv's so i wouldn't worry so much....just read the reviews very carefully and decide what is best for you. Can i just ask why you seem so focused on a Sony tv? There are alot of fantastic tv's out there and only a few of them are from Sony so perhaps you should broaden your search a little?

Plasma is definately not dead and i can confirm that as i bought a Panny 42g20, and with Kuro engineers now at Panasonic the future for plasma is brighter if anything...WHF keep teasing us with hints of something potentially special around the corner when it comes to plasma.

No Max it's not just you i just tried a search from all the usual suspects which i won't mention here and not 1 46nx803 is shown....i remember sony having stock issues with the new range but i thought that was supposed to be sorted by the end of July?? Perhaps i was wrong and it's the end of August but i know stock of these tv's is an issue.....obviuosly it's yet to be resolved but at this time of the year that's almost criminal, don't they want to sell these tv's??

So perhaps some answers may be forthcoming then....it does seem very strange that at the time sony are advertising their new range some tv's remain absent in this country. I'm not in the market for one myself but if i was then this would be very frustrating to say the least, it is a bit of a mystery however as to why there is no stock
