I'm in Japan right now, and the price of a Marantz CD player has never looked better. However, Japan uses a 100 volt 50 hz electricity. The Marantz has a detachable power cord, would changing the powercord make it suitable for my country's use, which is 220v 50hz, or will it still fry the internal components?

Have a look on the back of the CD player (Or in the manual) as a lot of equipment will work from 100 - 250V with the power supply automatically switching to the correct level.
If not automatic there may be a switch on the back to do the same thing. (As has been mentioned)
Lower voltage equipment is normally 100-130V so a standard step down transformer will be fine. (just make sure its rating (VA) is higher then the equipment you are connecting to it)
