I have had my Virgin V HD box now for almost couple of months seems good fine HD picture on the 3 free channels that i get no real complaints there.

Anyway yesterday i went out to get a new front door bell as the old one was water damaged, fitted it great no problems at all. The new door bell is wireless.

About an hour later whilst watching the tv, my V HD box suddenly turned it self off & rebooted, thinking this was an update of some kind, i paid it no notice as i know there are supposed to be some new channels coming either in June or July ( Film 4 HD is one of them & a cookery channel in HD ). Then this happened again about 1/2 an hour later & again after another 10 minutes, so i did what Virgin usually tell you, re-started the box after leaving for a few minutes. This went ok but again it rebooted itself after another 20 mins, so thiinking that the wireles doorbell may be interfering with it i removed the indoor mains plugged sender reciever box which happened to be around 2 feet away from the HD box & did another restart on the box. Great i thought after around 1/2 an hour with no problems must be that, caused by RFI, no wrong it started again after another 1/2 hour & kept doing it every 10 minuites or so. In the end I turned it off totally & have left it all night.

Before i start it up this morning has anyone else had a similar problem? cos it looks like i might be getting into an argument with Virgin for a new box this morning.

Hi

I've been Googling to try and find out more info about this fault, as I experienced it last night as well!

Pretty much the same issues as you - at first it happened every half hour or so, but then the frequency seemed to increase to about every 10-15 minutes. First time I've experienced it since my installation about 3 weeks ago. I've got one of the Cisco HD boxes.

I've heard of Phillips energy-saving lightbulbs affecting Virgin TV services (?!), but I didn't have any of those on last night; and there was no other wireless equipment operating in my flat except for the internet (don't know about the neighbours though).

Seems like quite a coincidence for it to happen the same night - whereabouts are you located? I'm in North London.

I'm going to see how the service is tonight, as calling their customer service is always a last resort to me (had a nightmare getting my installation sorted and spent a fortune on calls to them).

Hopefully it was just temporary, but if you get any more info I'd be grateful if you could share!

Hi StuartW i am located in Aylesbury. I believe my main Hub is Watford. My problem started around 4pm yesterday & i finally switched it off at 10pm fully unplugged from the main ( i do every night ).

Since then i had it on for around 4 hours or so this morning with no problems, at present it is on standby & has not rebooted on its own again. Mine is stood on top of my dvd/hdd recorder, this was turned off all the time so should not have interfered with it.

I have just rung Virgin & they have had a national fault with this happening to the V HD boxes, they seem to think it has now been resolved. Good news im glad to say.

Best regards ... Paul
