I am planning to come to England next month and I really like to know where the vinyl shops'in London(jazz and classical music). Second Hand or brand new it does not matter. I am intersting in both of them. I made a quick survey on the internet, there are lots of shops, but most of them selling electronica, hiphop......I really appreciate your recommendations. Thank's.

Try Berwick St, in Soho. Some on Oxford St, and FOPP just off Cambridge Circus, can sometimes have a few cinyl LP's.

Yes, there's quite a few record shops around Soho, although I'm not sure which ones do well for jazz and classical.

If your internet searching didn't bring up this page then it's a good starting point (note the comments at the bottom which mention stores that have closed or moved since the article was written)

could try benos in croydon(surrey street market)

and if your in the area of croydon theres the vinal count down

I'd forget Berwick Street - rock or dance mostly. There is one which has some jazz but not a specialist by any means.

Fopp likewise, the Covent Garden branch (just by Shaftesbury Avenue) has a limited selection of - again - mostly rock or soul vinyl. Not worth a special trip (but deffo for CDs!).

Secondhand, however, there is the record and tape exchange at Notting Hill Gate (Central or Circle Line), which has a very good used section for classical LPs and a decent jazz selection in the other of their shops there (they have a few within close walking distance of each other). That'd be my pick were it my journey.

Here's the link for the Classical Exchange aforementioned: http://www.mveshops.co.uk/?q=node/26

Sound of the Universe (a.k.a. Soul Jazz) in Soho is good for all sorts of stuff. Upstairs has all sorts of new things and reissues, downstairs is mostly 2nd hand jazz and that.
