I can get the above for super cheap money (less than half the retail price)

Thing is that I'm currently using Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s (with Yamaha AS500)

Is this even a worthwhile consideration?

Or will I end up needing to spend closer to the Vincent retail price on a new pair of speakers to get anything out of this amp?

If you can try before you buy, that would be ideal.

I am someone who believes in getting the amp right, and even cheap speakers can sound much better when properly driven. So IMO, provided you like the sound of the Vincent, I would get it and enjoy the improvement it brings. The speakers can be upgraded at a later date, if that is your whim (the 10.1s are good speakers).

The Vincent SV-236MK is a fantastic amplifier imo, but should be used with far better speakers to get the best result.

Combined with your speakers, you would be surprised with the level (quantity and quality) of bass produced.
