I will get to find out. I have read on other forums about the covers and people say that their amplifier has them on but nobody can give an explanation as to what purpose they serve.
Damping plates to stop the crappy build case work from rattling...The plastic grills on both Amps View attachment 5013View attachment 5012
Where did you get your Degree in build Quality i must go there 😎Damping plates to stop the crappy build case work from rattling...
I did wonder if its some sort of heat plate ! very Mysterious why are they diffrent sizes both on the same side of the Amps.So Curious ! would you not want too let the heat out and not block it too keep the Amp cool...mmmmI'm not surprised that you're curious.
That top one looks like something someone might have used as a base to take a smaller component on top.
(With the intention to block rising heat 🤔)
Seem to remember seeing similar on this forum - there must be some good reason.
Mysterious......
Google "hi-fi damping plates"...Where did you get your Degree in build Quality i must go there 😎
Nor any of mine suggesting they are after-market fittings.Never seen these on the Marantz amps I've owned (3).
Very odd.My pm6006 has one. You can clearly see one on the image of pm6007 in the review on this site. No idea what it is for.

Now that one is just silly, it's covering most of the vents. My Yamaha AV receiver has one. Always wondered why
Good old Europe 🙄I believe it’s something to do with European fire hazard safety regulations. God knows how it helps, though.
This is one of the reasons I don't get what they are for, the plastic sheet has all the vents cut in it too. 🤷Now that one is just silly, it's covering most of the vents.
Glad im not the only one ! they have been baffling me for years ..very odd.I noticed they are always on the input switch side on all Brands. This is one of the reasons I don't get what they are for, the plastic sheet has all the vents cut in it too. 🤷
If vented this would tend to support the damping plate theory...This is one of the reasons I don't get what they are for, the plastic sheet has all the vents cut in it too. 🤷
