got myself a nice new 50 inch V10 last week and when I use the THX mode it creates a thin black line 2 thirds across the top and same across bottom.line is about 2/3 mm also when using pana EX79 pvr I get a dotted white line accross the top and full white line accross the bottom.when I use cinema mode with overscan on all inputs a fine.I'm on my second set now and went to shop where I purchased and their V10 has same problem.they told me that all pana plasmas suffer from this prpblem and it was something to do with teletext.I'm gutted as this renders THX mode effectivly useless.does anybody have this problem

It's because in THX mode the TV goes to 1:1 pixel mode, which means it is not using overscan. This is part of the THX certification. On some TV channels you will get the sync codes normally hidden when using slight overscan. It's not a problem with the set, it's certain channels still using an out of date system of transmission and is common on any TV where you have it set to dot to dot, or full pixel modes. In THX mode it is set to show every pixel, so you will occasionally see the sync information as you describe. Hope that helps.

thanks for technical explanation, that realy helps.must add that when using overscan on non blu-ray source picture is very good,in fact brilliant if source is good.

I'VE ALSO GOT A V10 AND KEEP IT ON THX MODE CONSTANTLY AND I HAVENT HAD THAT PROBLEM YET, THOUGH UNTIL I GET VIRGIN, I ONLY HAVE 5 OR 6 CHANNELS COMING THROUGH DVB (FREEVIEW?), SO MAYBE YOU HAVE THAT PROBLEM ON CHANNELS I HAVENT SEEN YET. SIMONCAR, HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR V10? DID YOU USE IT ON THX MODE FROM THE BEGINNING OR DID YOU DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR THE BREAKING IN PERIOD?

Hi,I have had my v10 just over a week and i have kert it on THX since day one, only flicking between cinima and THX modes when watching a blueray.
I dont know what you thought when flicking between different modes but I thought that cinima(with digital cinima colour on)mode did give slightly better colours.

I HAVENT REALLY PLAYED WITH IT TOO MUCH YET, AS I SAY I HARDLY HAVE ANY CHANNELS AND STILL DECIDING WHAT BLURAY PLAYER TO GET. MY CHOICES ARE ON SOME OF MY OTHER POSTS, BUT ONCE I GET ONE AND START WATCHING FILMS I'LL TEST OUT THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS. I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH HOW DVD LOOKS ON IT AND FREEVIEW IS PRETTY GOOD TOO (BAR THE LACK OF CHANNELS), DONT YOU THINK?
