Hi

My System is a Yamaha DSP-AX759se amp, Pioneer BDP-320 Blueray, Cyrus 8 vs2 stereo amp, KEF Q35.2 as stereo speakers and KEF KHT 3005se system to make 7.1 cinema. Sony KDL-40Z4500 TV, Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat.

How do I set up my Yamaha to the Cyrus and use the Cyrus to control stereo and the Yamaha to control the rest of the speakers?

Will this system sound ok using the KEF Q35's as stereo speakers?

Im unsure if you can do it as I cant find a clear enough picture of the rear of the unit

But basically you need STEREO OUT phonos (If it has them it will also have center and rear outs too)

Assuming it has, all you need to do is run phono leads from the left and right putputs to an input on the cyrus amp. Then you need to find a balance on the amps that has the volume at the correct level (Usually have the amp at around 12 oclock dead and adjust the left and right outputs on the av amp to compensate)

The DSP-AX759se does have front L+R pre-outs(pic here)

So set up as follows......

1)Connect the front left and right preouts of the yammy AX759se to an line input on the cyrus 8 vs2

2a)Set the volume of the Cyrus 8vs2 to about halfway**

This volume setting is then used on the stereo amp whenever you watch AV-Overall volume is then handled by the receiver.

2b) run the speaker calibration routine on the A/V amp.

3) When watching/listening to A/V,both amps are on-the stereo amp will handle the front speakers, the A/V amp will handle the rest.

4) When listening to stereo, the A/V amp is off/out of the equation so doesn't degrade the sound.

**If the Cyrus 8 vs2 has a HT by-pass/unity gain function(refer to manual), miss step 2a out!!!

Sorry guys thats wrong i do the same thing he is doing now with a different av. amp, What you need to do is take phono leads from the pre out on the yamaha to the av. input on the cyrus then switch the cyrus on at the switch on the (rear) Important and hold down the av. button on the cyrus this programs the av. button to use a fixed gain turning the cyrus into a power amp with no volume control. switch back to cd and the vol. works again. If you loose power to the cyrus you will need to follow the steps again. once done set your speaker levels on the yamaha

To be fair, Dave did point out that step 2a might not be necessary.

At least we should have everything covered now
