Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a TV that I can use as a computer monitor as well and am not sure how well something like a Panasonic 32LZD80 / 32LZD85 would work. (any 50Hz/100Hz issues?)

Also, does anyone have any views on PC Monitors like the Samsung T260/T240?

Thanks for your help, Mike

None of the current 32" 1080p screens offer full use of the pixels available.

Most are WXGA (1280 x 800), the main exception being the Sharp 32X20E which offers SXGA+ (1400 x 1050).

PC Monitors will offer a higher resolution and 1 to 1 pixel mapping but will add in "black bands" at the top and bottom of the screen if you watch any wide screen films / TV etc. (How about one of these in place of the Samsung T260 ? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-054-HY&tool=3 ).

Also... the screens are much smaller than a 32" TV !.

Neither solution is 100% perfect, If your using the PC for gaming get a monitor, but if the PC is for day to day computing go for the Sharp 32X20E as SXGA+ is more than enough for this... the TV will also be better for watching TV / DVD.

I think what i'll do is head to a shop and see what a PC image through these TVs looks like.

Thanks for the responses guys,

Mike

I'm running full HD from my PC to a Sony 52W4500 with 1:1 pixel mapping. It's important to remember to get the ultimate resolution and clarity, you mustn't use the usual VGA connection which is essentialy an analogue RGB signal, but rather the DVI, or ultimately the HDMI output (as I do) of your PC if available as these are pure digital. The resolution, clarity and color reproduction will be spot on.
