USB dac for 2008 Unibody Macbook to match Marantz CD 5003 Quality

I have my macbook plugged in to my PM 5003 but can't help feeling the sound is lacking compared with my CD 5003 which uses the Cirrus Logic CS4392. I am using lossless on the mac. I don't want to spend too much what can you recomment? (under £150)

Wouldn't you be better looking for a cheap s/pdif DAC?

I can heartily recommend the Fubar IV, which just about sneaks into budget. They have other cheaper ones (like the 2) but they may not suit your needs (the 2 is only 16/48 capable, for example).

How about the Spitfire MK2 from firestone. Currently £150 or 149euro. Mine arrived this week but can't try it until Christmas!!!

I would recommend the Beresford 7520.

USB input plus 1 optical and 2 coaxial.

Decent headphone amp thrown into the bargain too.
