Five Star Marantz CD-5003 £50 less: Shall I go for it?

Hi. I am looking for a cd player to partner with my Onkyo 606. Currently I am only using a DVD player (Cambridge Audio DVD57) but mind you, this dvd player is very musical indeed. However, if I upgrade to the Marantz cd-5003 which is now only £150, will I hear a much improved performance? Moreover, will a cd player sound great if I only partner it with an av receiver and not the dedicated 2 channel amplifier? Thanks again.

Yes, I think it will sound bettter, but not hugely so.

Thanks for your reply Mr. Andrew E. In your own opinion, if the improvement is not huge, is it worth upgrading or should I carry on using the CA DVD57 and save the money? What if I try the Marantz cd6002 will it have huge improvement? Cheers again.

I'd stick with the DVD player.
