I loved the ribbon tweeters on them. Crystal clear without being harsh. Bass very well controlled but quite thin for the size of their demo room (my room is smaller so hoping it will be fine). Mids were lovely but a little forward. Ideally would prefer a more flat frequency response but was so amazed by the tweeter I guess I could live with it. Vocals and horns were stunning and the amount of detail was great.
So now I'm waiting for my speakers to arrive on Tuesday. If my hunch was wrong and after a day or two of listening I won't like the bump in mids or bass will be too thin or treble too tiring I have an option of returning them.
I should add I only paid £320 so it would be a cheap upgrade to Dalis.
If you've got any thoughts please share.
It would be interesting to know what amp was used in the demo. I've heard earlier versions of these speakers and they need a really good amp to drive them successfully obviously Roksans own amps where used in their development.
I demoed with my Arcam A85 as wasn't prepared to have 2 unkowns in the equation so took it with me. At least I know the room as demoed there a number of times before. Following from Roksans I've listened to Monitor Audio Silver 2's and must say that Dali's are a bargain at half the cost of MA's I'd go for Dali's every time.
The main reason I ordered Roksan's was the tweeters. My head was telling me not to buy them due to uneven frequency response. Yes, they do favour vocals a lot. When listening to tracks with vocals and acoustic guitars only the vocals are quite forward maybe a tad too much. But the quality of that ribbon tweeter is stunning.
When I got home I started listening to Dali's and for the first time I felt I was truly missing out. Roksan's sounded so sweetly and detailed that all of a sudden I wasn't enjoying my Dali's as much. So my heart won and I found a pair online and ordered.
