so recently i've made some upgrades to my system, mainly a new turntable and speakers/stands and new interconnects. my next puzzle piece is to upgrade my rotel.

in the 10+ years i've owned it, it's never let me down. it's surrived my late partner spilling coffee into it! and i've grown that used to the sound, it would be an expensive mistake to buy a new amp and it not being as good as the rotel.

been looking at rega brio r's and 2nd hand cyrus one's. my partener in vinyl crime has the cyrus and i really like the sound.

so what hi-fi, ideas? my setup is in my sig, so thats what we're working with.

I would certainly recommend cyrus. I have an 8vs2 plus PSX-R and it sounds beautifully with vinyl and other sources.

Go with an 8 series and you can add the power supply later if you wish so. - You'd have to buy a phono stage though.

regards

If you like Rotel, then I'd suggest RA-06SE or RA-1520. These are now obsolete but may be able to find from dealers or any of the auction sites.

Because of the many upgrade paths available within to Cyrus owners, there's a big second-hand market in Cyrus amps. They are generally reliable. If you don't fancy the risk of buying second hand (though with amps, it's a relatively low risk), Fanthorpes of Hull sell reconditioned Cyrus units with 2-year manufacturer warranties.

How new are your speakers?

I know you are looking at upgrading your amp but in my view if you're happy with your amp It may be worth upgrading your speakers 1st.

Not saying your Q acoustics are not upto it, but.......

Makes no sense going up to Cyrus amps with the 2020's.

Try auditioning the BX2 range/level of speaker with your amp.

See how you get on.

If you are curious try new Amps with your speakers. Think you'll find new speakers will be the way to go.

Happy hunting.
