I currently have the following....

Cyrus CD6
Cyrus 8vs
Focal JM Lab Chorus 714s

I have about £1000 to spend and am wondering what to do? I'm guessing the speakers are the obvious choice. Also, I listen to a varied selection of music so am looking for a balanced sound.

Cheers

I suppose I'm looking for a little more bass weight and dynamism, excitement, yep thats the word.

You could audition some speakers, perhaps including the PMC GB1i. I was tempted to suggest looking at some different amps, but I think your speakers are possibly the weakest link (although I've never heard them). I was wondering what you'd get with a better amp, but it's probably better controlled bass and thus, apparently less.

A good pair of stand mount speakers can provide excellent dynamics and excitement. The Proac Studio 110s are supposed to be very good, as are the 100s! Maybe the new Dynaudio Excite X16s could give you a bit more verve.

Don't forget to use decent cables.

Thanks mate, hadn't considered stand mounts. Will defo check these out, I agree that it seems sensible to start with speakers.

Cheers
