Popped over to HiFi Pig to look at the photos from the UK HiFi Show at Ascot racing grandstand.
Thought I share. See link below for show coverage.

Some really bizarre designs, there's a Rogers valve amp that resembles my garden barbecue.

Some amazing gear and some stuff looking like they've been over engineered.
If you've visited the show, please give us your commentary and what stood out for you.
Thanks 🙂

Not cheap considering it's in essence an elaborate dealer show room trying to flog you things.

Mind, the demographic it appeals to have the cash, the only other thing they have to worry about is impending funeral costs.

Manufacturers and distributors generally don't sell at shows, so not trying to flog you things there and then. Bristol is the biggest meat market, as it's run by a retailer.

I last went in 2023. It’s a vast and rather spectacular venue, which means the sounds don’t readily interfere/compete with each other, but it’s a long way to trek from area to area, and floor to floor. I’m sure it appeals to international visitors and suppliers given how near Heathrow it is.

I was toying with a return visit but in the end decided against. I’ve got no money to burn at the moment, and I've been to two shows already this year. The other downside was that the lavish stands and rooms previously occupied by high end importer, Absolute Sounds, were not going to be present this time as they’ve decided to do a few ‘road shows’ with some of their dealers.

I think the Cranage show is my favourite now, because it’s a comfortable venue and well attended by a variety of brands and dealers. The Ascot Show was £15 to Hifi News subscribers; Cranage is free iirc.
