Clare Newsome:
Other than Samsung's optional wi-fi dongles, nothing i've seen to date.
But consider it from the perspective of TV manufacturers: why would they want to sell you a low-cost upgrade to a set (which they'd probably make pennies on), prolonging the time until your next TV purchase, when they could instead tempt you with new, shiny TVs boasting all the gubbins?
However, there may be third-party solutions in development - and of course there are already source-based solutions (PS3 etc) that enable web connectivity via your TV.
It depends what you call pennies- would eg would Panasonic rather sell an add-on at £50 or see me put £250 Sonys PS3 way or £150 Microsofts X box way, neither of which I overly need or necessarily want as it would draw the junior flies into the parental parlour.
Since it is already a feature of the TVs, it might not be that big an investment, unless it is inextricably hooked into all the other hardware/software.
I will just end up waiting to buy a blu-ray player which incorporates this feature.
It was just a thought ,thats all.
Bet the next Oppo does it
