Hey,I inherited a lot of vinyl and now need to play them on something. I have never owned a turntable before so I'm looking for something for a beginner that still has decent sound. From my basic research I think I am looking at purchasing a turntable, amp and speaker setup. I guess there is a big increase in sound quality when having a separate amp rather than one where it's included on turntable? The turntable I had in mind was the Marantz TT5005 http://www.richersounds.com/products/hi-fi-separates/separates/turntables#1Amp: CAMBRIDGE AUDIO TOPAZ AM5 http://www.richersounds.com/product/amplifiers-receivers/cambridge-audio/topaz-am5/camb-topaz-am5-blk And speakers: CAMBRIDGE AUDIO SX50 http://www.richersounds.com/product/standmount-speakers/cambridge-audio/sx50/camb-sx50-dk-walIs this a good setup for a beginner? Or can people suggest anything else that won't break the bank but has good sound quality, is easy to use and can be added to in the future.Another question I had was could I hook up and play my tv up through those amp/speakers? How about my Samsung tablet? Thanks for any help, Jonathan

I would go for this system from Richersounds. I know its more but it would be worth it.

You should be able to connect your television if you have phono outputs.

Hey,

Thanks for your reply. That's a big jump in price alright. I guess I will have to think about it. I was hoping to jsut go basic and maybe add to it in the future. I also don't like the design of the project essential. Does it not get dust on to the records with it being uncovered?

The records only play for twenty minutes each side so wont get dusty in that time. But you may need something to cover the turntable with when not in use.

Try to listen to a few set ups, as it is impossible to guess your taste!

I think you may be thinking of the Project Elemental that does not have a cover. The Essential comes with a cover. To be honest I think you need to spend a reasonable amount on the turntable or you will just be disappointed.

I agree spend more on Turntable, spending less will probably cost you more in the longer term. I would up your budget or consider used amp and speakers, you can get some good deals. Many cheap TTs have problems, buy a reasonable one, around £300-£400. Many older amps have phono stages already in them.
