Hi

so i just bought myself a turntable with a preamp, thinking that i could plug it straight into my powered studio speakers. I now know that i need an amp and was wondering if someone could recommend something?

Id like something as small as possible, whilst staying powerful enough to power a couple of these - https://bit.ly/3murZd5 - Ideally it would be under £100.

The ones that im seeing online all output to passive speakers - but im looking for something that will output via a 3.5m audio jack.

any help would be much appreciated
thanks
Nick

I think you will need a preamp, to take the level from the phono stage up to whatever your speakers need. And most of all, a volume control!

That level might be in the region of 250mV to be boosted to around 2 volts, but it would be handy to know what kit you’re trying to get to work. Plus the specs if you have it.

Hi - so the turntable already has a preamp in it ( https://bit.ly/3jdji4G ) from what ive seen, i should have been able to plug those straight into my powered speakers ( https://bit.ly/3murZd5 ) but for some reason im not getting a powerful volume at all.

So from the turntable im currently going to this audio splitter so the speakers can share 2 inputs https://amzn.to/2WjMgXU this connected to my powered speakers using a minijack to xlr cable.

thanks for your help!

So - I did say that I was a novice. It turns out that all I needed to do is switch the preamp on the turn table to line - and it works fine!!

sorry for the false alarm
