I had been searching for a while for a dust cover for my technics sl-bd20 not the most expensive turn table so didn't want to spend the wopping 140 pound for a none technics replacements from china. Found a entire record player all be it a little grotty but in working order with a lid. However when it arrived of course one hinge was broken didn't show that in the pictures. While slightly vexed I wasn't sending a 2nd hand record player back in the post. So since I had a 3d printer already I started the Google search and came across some free 3d print download files for the exact technics system I had. I thought brilliant. No need to reinvent the wheel and have to design the hinges myself a quick download transfer to the 3d printer and hit print. So off I went and printed them straight away. Got the Dremel out and braved the cutting off the old broken hinge and figured might as well have matching sides so off came the other hinge insert. Out came the wet and dry various grades to remove any residual marks from where the original hinge inserts were. broke a drill doing another job had to wait untill I got new drill as old one had a masonry drill bit permanently stuck in it. Wife buys me a 160 pound drill well at this stage I could of bought a new dust cover but I continued none the less and shiny new drill came in the post. ( Birthday present) Finally drilled the fresh holes for the 3d printed hinges and now the new second hand repaired dust cover is finally attached.
