Hello folks 😀

Can I use Dali lektor 1's with a 250 watt amp (poweramp).

I read here on this page that they have a power handling of max 100 watts, but maybe that has nothing to do with it?

nice amp ... from the internet, the specs are 300 watts RMS x 2 into 8 ohms or 500 watts RMS x 2 into 4 ohms

my amp has a higher rating than my speakers and I have no problems .... just have to be carefull and not turn the volume too high (or too quick)

not sure with your amp, but am sure that someone will advise shortly

Too much power is not an issue, unless you crank the volume up beyond what your speakers can handle... And you would hear the speakers sounding terrible long before that point....

Now why would anyone buy a multi hundred watt amp, pre-amp etc and then use it with a speaker so small?

Look at your options before buying speakers.
With an amp like that, you have a lot to choose from as it will drive pretty much anything.

Look at ATC, Dynaudio, B&W, Spendor and PMC just to name a few.

Those Emotiva products are not that expensive in the greater scheme of things, so my point wasn't necesseraly the price of the base lectors though even there the match is somewhat odd. I'm more curious why anyone would feel the need to have a 500Watt amp and then use it with such a speaker?

Oh why not ...

Additional headroom from a powerful amp can be quite helpful with dynamic peaks. 🙂

at that price...id doubt you can get a better amp than that.but I havent heard it yet.as the OP compared it with anything else?

Yeah, I know It's kind of silly 😛

I am "only" 18 and I earn about 570£ a month (I still go in/to high school).

First I bought the amps and cd-player and then I borrowed some money from a friend to buy the lektors. (I couldn't stand having that equipment in my room, without using it. So yeah I just bought the not to expensive Dali Lektor 1's so I at least could listen to some hi-fi 😛

In 1« month or two« I will have enough money to buy a nice speaker and speaker stands although I find it very tempting just to buy the B&W ASW 610 subwoofer by the end of this month, because even though my Lektor sounds pretty good I still miss that bass. Very much in fact. (Have been using the Razer Mako 2.1 setup for a year now).

So I don't really know what to do. And if I decided to buy that sub, would it then sound to big for my room (3.5x2.5 meters).?

My dream is to one day own the B&W PV1 😛

I'm sure it can be applied to many fields, but what I've been led to believe is that too much power is never enough
